Blog 4. The evolution of the Ego
The Ego Collection, the one with the fun back panel and the hidden side pockets, was an instant hit, and I was shocked at how great it looked on such a wide variety of ladies. This design was definitely not perfect from the beginning; it took a few months, if not a year, to get the pattern pieces just right. But I am so happy with how it looks and fits now.
The fabric I use for the Ego is stretchy, and because of the super flattering shape and side gathers, it is super forgiving on a lot of bodies, and each size can fit a variety of frames. Seeing different ladies each week try on my designs and hearing their feedback and comments was a massive help in modifying the fit and making the different size options. —There are now five sizes available XS-XL!
Not only has the shape and different sizes changed, but the design also has.
I started with only the Hooded Ego without sleeves, and it has now grown to 4 different styles with your choice of with a hood or without, and with sleeves or without.
I have always been frustrated that they make clothes so square, and if I want it longer, I have to go up a size, which makes me look like a box. So with all Untamed creations (unless requested), they all have the same length sleeves, body and size of the hood.
I have complained my whole life about sleeves not being long enough for my giraffe arms (I know giraffes don’t have arms), and what’s the point of having thumbholes when they cut off my circulation. So all you long-armed ladies out there will love the sleeves and thumbholes on all my collections. If you have short arms, no worries, just leave me a message when ordering, and I will make them shorter at no extra cost.
I am here for all of us ladies and our special, unique body frames.
I have always loved big hoods; I have a long neck, so finding hoods has always been challenging. I apologise if you own one of my early pieces when the hood did not sit right and was so heavy, but I now have the best hood design ever. I know that is a big statement, but it’s true, haha. After a lot of head-scratching and grey hairs, my new hood design is so cosy when up and lay really lovely when worn down.
As the phones have grown, so has my Ego pockets.
If you have followed me from the beginning, I am sure you can see the difference in my designs as I have learned and grown. I was very embarrassed about this initially, but then I realised that I would be more embarrassed if I were not developing and improving. I am sure Chanels suits were not perfect from the start.
I really appreciate each of you who took a chance on a random English girl standing at a market selling her designs. Without you, I wouldn’t be here now. Thanks for reading, and next week I will tell you all about how the Attitude was born. Have fun, and remember you got this.
