About Neil and Tracy from ARTrophy

We are Neil and Tracy, a.k.a Bhuddi and Kupu, a collaborative visual arts team from Okotoks known as Artrophy. ARTrophy is the concept of turning disability into possibility - combining two halves to make a whole. 

It is a testament to human connection, love, and understanding through brushstrokes, colour, and wonder. Neil was born with an eye condition known as Autosomal Dominant Optic Atrophy. Artrophy is a play on words. Just add one letter, and possibilities appear.

Our paintings reflect interpretations of our shared reality and honour the place we call home.  As avid outdoors people, we take solace and gain inspiration by being surrounded by nature, particularly the Rocky Mountains.

Together, we paint vibrant and playful acrylic paintings that evoke feelings of joy, innocence and freedom. Exaggerated colours, shapes, and patterns uncover sights familiar yet somehow unseen. Our collective vision allows us to push beyond boundaries, discovering the extraordinary amongst the ordinary.  

People describe our work “as the mountains you know like you have never seen them before.” For us, painting brings inner peace and helps us discover stillness amongst chaos. Life's detours led us here; art guides our way forward. 

We are both fueled by a passion to show the world that limitations are only in one's mind and that anything is possible. In that sense, our art can serve as a springboard for further conversations about inclusivity, collaboration, and art that is simply different. 

We are self-taught emerging artists who have diverged from the field of education after an extended career of international living, exploring and unexpected circumstances. Although we are no longer teaching, learning never ends for us. Our journey is just beginning.

The Rocky Mountain Collection

The Rocky Mountains have an unparalleled ability to ignite creativity within us. Their majesty and permanence are an unending source of inspiration. The interplay of light and shadow on rugged peaks, the dance of clouds, and the vivid colours of towering trees supercharge our senses!

We aim to capture a moment, fleeting as it may be, of serenity, drama, joy or even whimsy. The mountains never disappoint. People who love our art love it because it sparks a memory of a time in the mountains with people they love. Now, they can wear art that embodies beloved memories on a brand all about mountain life!  To us, the juxtaposition of bold, organic forms against the soft fabric of the hoodie creates a striking visual contrast.

Our mountain-inspired designs evoke a sense of adventure, inviting wearers to carry a piece of the wilderness with them. Each hoodie becomes a wearable testament to the awe-inspiring power and allure of the mountains intertwined with the human spirit.
