The Inspiration behind Craig Bohem from SK Storm Chaser
Posted by EMMA STEVENS
I have always had a passion for a good prairie storm; as a kid, I can remember every time there was a thunderstorm, I would stare out the window hoping to catch a glimpse of a bolt of lightning then the count of a thousand and one, a thousand and two would startup as I awaited the rumble of the thunder to finally arrive.
Fast Forward to 2012. After watching many, many storms and tornado-related videos and hearing of the Tornado's, which seemed to have been popping up all over Saskatchewan that summer, I decided to become a storm chaser; yep, just like that.
On my very first storm chase, I was fortunate to chase a storm for about 5 hours, seeing one of the most incredible storms of the year and seeing my very first Tornado yeppers beginners luck for sure.
After the chase, I was super excited to see my pictures and videos; let me say I was slightly disappointed with the results.
I headed out and started to invest in better equipment cameras, lenses, tripods, radar app's etc. I was determined not to repeat the disappointment in the quality of photos I took on that very first storm chase. I have put many hours in just learning my camera settings, etc., to provide some of the most stunning Storm and Scenery Photographs taken in Saskatchewan.
From this passion for storm chasing and photography grew SkStormChaser Photography. I hope that my photographs can capture the pure power of a prairie storm and the beauty and tranquillity that the Saskatchewan landscape can present and now be shared with the rest of the world through my photography.
I grew up in Regina, Saskatchewan and still reside here with my wife and storm chasing partner.
Craig Boehm, from SK Storm Chaser Photography thank you so much for reading and I hope you love the collaboration with Untamed Fernie. Check out The SK Storm Chaser Collection.
