Ali Clark. Fashion doesn’t have to cost the earth — it can help protect it

It is an honour to contribute to this collaboration with Wildsight and Untamed.

Through this collaboration, I’ve created images that highlight a handful of the habitats and animals that are at risk in our region. The artwork doesn’t just sit on the fabric; it grows and wraps around the body. It’s meant to root you in their living world, to ensure you feel connected and to remind you that we, too, are woven into the story.

These designs are meant to be noticed, stir curiosity and start the conversation. There is a better way forward, even if it isn’t always easy to find. By working together, we can use fashion as a force to protect what remains, one thread at a time.

Joining forces with Emma at Untamed once again is a privilege! A female-owned and operated business that truly is a force for change in the fashion industry. Her commitment to environmental standards and zero-waste practices proves that the clothing we wear can be beautiful, ethical, and locally made — supporting both the community and its artists.

Wildsight’s commitment to lasting solutions for wildlife and wild places is something I deeply admire. They stand on the front lines to safeguard and speak up for habitats and at-risk species. Their efforts are tireless and deeply necessary for ensuring that future generations can experience thriving, living landscapes — not just the memory of them.

For me, this project isn’t just about clothing. It’s about asking more questions of the industry and of ourselves: What are we putting on our bodies, and what impact does it have on the wild?

Together, we can take power back from corporations that profit from pollution, exploitative labour, and habitat destruction. Change begins small, by choosing longer-lasting clothing and supporting practices that respect the earth, we are voting for a better way forward.

Oh, and have you heard about the super cute Crumbs Collection? Emma, from Untamed, is creating designs from all the little 'crumbs' of fabric that she cuts to prevent them from going to the landfill. These create super cool, one of a kind creations.
