The Untamed Message
It has been so much fun learning about branding and thinking about what I want the Untamed message to be and represent. A friend said to me yesterday, how do I work so much? And it was simple to answer … because I love it, and I want to make a difference.
The Untamed Confidence
I want the Untamed message to be confident and fun, strong and playful. I want my customers to look in the mirror and like what they see, to look past the negative and be proud of the positive. We all have insecurities, so let’s eat healthily, get some exercise, be kind and wear clothes that fit and make you feel fabulous.
“The Untamed woman strives to be the best version of herself by being kind to herself, others, and the planet. She is both soft and powerful, practical and spiritual and believes that with hard work, anything is possible.”
But sadly, even in 2020, finding models that are healthy and natural-looking is incredibly hard. I believe in the natural body, working out YES for sure, eating healthy, YES, having a treat now and again, definitely YES. But you have to be healthy, and you have to work at loving what you have. I don't believe skinny is sexy; I think a Confident and Healthy body is.
The Green Untamed
Clothing has become disposable. As a result, we generate more and more textile waste, causing the fashion industry to become one of the worst polluters globally, and I want to do my part to change this. I want my customers to feel good about how my designs make them look and feel and feel good about their shopping decision.
The slow fashion movement makes people think about their shopping habits and how their choices affect others and the planet. It encourages the consumer to buy fewer clothes that are higher quality and made to last instead of made to be disposed of after a few uses. Continuing to purchase new clothes will not change your life in any real way, but if we all start switching to slow fashion, the world will truly benefit.
Buy less. Buy better quality. Research. Mend clothes and Reuse.
I have also been doing a lot of research into the type of fabric I use and where I get it from. I recently found this fantastic company called Kendor Textiles in Vancouver, and I love their passion for doing everything they can to help the environment. You can read more about their commitment here https://kendortextiles.com/pages/sustainability.
The Untamed Versatility
I have always known I wanted to design clothing for every day, not every season. With all Untamed Collections, we can proudly say that you can wear them all year round. We don't design clothes for a specific season or event; we design clothes you can wear all year.
I am super excited about the direction Untamed is going in. We are committed to incorporating more environmentally conscious ways to operate our day-to-day business as we grow. We love this beautiful planet, and we want to continually produce cool, functional ethical pieces that are fabulous for you and the environment.
At the moment, I am working hard to figure out ways to use up the scrap pieces of fabric from my designs and thinking of things I can make with them … maybe some funky Untamed cushions are in the cards. I am super excited to see what I can come up with, so watch this space.
Remember, I am not saying don’t go shopping because shopping is fun; all I want is for you to think about your shopping habits. Think about why that top is that price and how your decision will affect other people and the planet.
Be kind to yourself, others and the planet because we all deserve some love.
