“Who am I? I have no idea! Haha"
Posted by EMMA STEVENS

Hi, I’m Emma, 45, born in England. I love snowboarding, hiking, biking, paddle boarding, drinking fancy teas, and having picnics. Overall, I would say I am pretty happy.
I love where I live, have fantastic people in my life, and run a fun, challenging, yet stressful business that sometimes makes me want to pull my hair out. I’m fit, healthy, and still in love with my partner after almost 20 years.
However, given the state of the world, it’s hard to feel completely happy. It’s sad. I cherish my life and the beauty of this world, but it also frustrates me. I wish people would care more. My boyfriend tells me I’m crazy at least five times a day, and while I won’t deny it, I don’t understand why we can’t all be nicer to each other and come together to work on saving this planet.
Anyway, I got way off-topic straight away, haha. Anyway, let's return to how I became this version of Emma.
I was never the kind of girl who had everything figured out from a young age. All I knew was that I wanted to travel, just like my sister. If you had asked 12-year-old Emma what she wanted to do with her life, she would have simply replied, “Travel the world.”
When I graduated from college at 18, a friend and I packed our backpacks, and my dad drove us to the ferry port in Dover, Kent. We boarded the ferry to Calais, France, and embarked on our first adventure. We returned home ten incredible months later, and I have had the travel bug ever since.
I spent the next ten years travelling across Europe, India, Southeast Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Africa, and North America. During this time, I visited over 40 countries, embarking on amazing adventures and working whenever I ran out of money. I had incredible experiences, created lifelong memories and friendships and somehow survived.
I thought this would be my life forever. Then, when I turned 29 and was living in Panorama, a small ski town in British Columbia, I realized I was ready to go back to school. I hadn't lost my passion for travel; I just wanted something different.
I love creating pros and cons lists to make decisions in my life. They help me determine which direction to take. By understanding my goals, I could identify the best path forward.
What do I want to do next? This is a big question for a girl who has spent the last ten years living out of a backpack and fears any form of commitment.
