“What! I have to schedule everything?”

I love my job. I design and make clothes, organize photo shoots, learn graphic design, write blogs, and make pretty social media posts. Plus, there's all the boring business admin stuff, which is not as much fun, but you can't have everything, right?

It's fun and a constant learning game, but it is also a massive amount of work and can easily consume me. Over the years, I've learned that finding balance is crucial for my business and life to succeed together. However, I am not very good at this, so I had to get organized.

For me, successfully working from home and running my own business means creating schedules for everything. I need a life schedule, not just a work schedule, to allocate time for myself and my business. Being an adult, I have learned takes organization and a good planner, haha. Being an adult is hard. It is way harder than people ever tell you when you are young and free.

Taking care of myself by exercising, eating healthily, and making time for breaks is essential. If I don't schedule when I take a break, I simply won't take one, which soon turns happy Emma into a grumpy, crazy Emma with a mad boyfriend. A bike ride, a walk, or tea and muffins on the deck can make a massive difference in productivity and mental state.

Life is all about choices and being on a path. You will make mistakes and get distracted, but you will achieve your goals by having patience, confidence to pivot, a willingness to fail, and a willingness to listen to your belly.

In the next blog, you will learn how I try to stay sane while balancing everything I want to do in a day.
